    Sweet Louisiana (The CDB)

Well, I thought I'd go out to Tulsa
    And ride in a rodeo
Red beans and rice sure would be nice
Back where the Mississippi River flows

And it's a long way back to Vicksburg
Mississippi River is muddy and wide
But it don't seem like much
When sweet Louisiana's waitin' on the other side

Well, there's a lot of room up in Canada
Where a man can catch his breath
But the men are bold and the women are cold
And you damn near freeze to death

And it's a long way back to Vicksburg
Mississippi River is muddy and wide
But it don't seem like much
When sweet Louisiana's waitin' on the other side

There's pretty girls in Kansas City
And a man can have a ball
But the women in Ouachita Parish
Drive a young man up the wall

And it's a long way back to Vicksburg
Mississippi River is muddy and wide
But it don't seem like much
When sweet Louisiana's waitin' on the other side

Well, I thought I'd go out to Tulsa
    And ride in a rodeo
Red beans and rice sure would be nice
Back where the Mississippi River flows

And it's a long way back to Vicksburg
Mississippi River is muddy and wide
But it don't seem like much
When sweet Louisiana's waitin' on the other side

'Cause it don't seem like much
When sweet Louisiana's waitin' on the other side

Long Haired Country Boy (The CDB)

    People say I'm no good
    And crazy as a loon
'Cause I get stoned in the mornin'
I get drunk in the afternoon

Kinda like my old blue tick hound
I like to lay around in the shade
And I ain't got no money
But I damn sure got it made

'Cause I ain't askin' nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone

    Preacher man talkin' on TV
Puttin' down the rock and roll
Wants me to send a donation
'Cause he's worried about my soul

He said, "Jesus walked on the water"
And I know that it's true
But sometimes I think that preacher man
Would like to do a little walkin' too

But I ain't asking nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
You don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone

A poor girl wants to marry
And a rich girl wants to flirt
A rich man goes to college
And a poor man goes to work

A drunkard wants another drink of wine
And a politician wants your vote
I don't want much of nothin' at all
But I will take another toke

But I ain't asking nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
You don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone

    Trudy (The Charlie Daniels Band)

Call up Trudy on the telephone
Send a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail

And if she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old John Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind

Now John Lee Walker was a card mechanic
Had a hand for trouble and a eye for cash
    Luckiest man in Dallas County
He had a gold watch chain and a black mustache

And he loved his whiskey and he loved his women
Drove a big long Cadillac limosine
Kept a big fine fancy townhouse in Dallas
And a hotel suite in New Orleans

Carried a switchblade knife in his left hip pocket
And a .44 hog leg up under his coat
Cut you down in a New York minute
If he catch you cheating that was all she wrote

So call up Trudy on the telephone
Send her a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail

If she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old John Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind

I just got to town last Friday evening
Sure as hell didn't mean to stay
I was on my way back to Louisiana
Had a powerful thirst and six months pay

I met a peroxide blonde in a bar on DeBell
I was flying high and feeling mean
Poured down a bottle and a half of red eye
I dropped 35 dollars in the slot machine

And the boys in the back was dealing 7 card
I set down and won me a 110
I was raking in chips like Grant took Richmond
Till big John Lee come a strolling in

He ripped off the table like a 707
Pretty soon he done won all of my bread
I accused him of cheating he reached for a pistol
I grabbed a chair and went upside of his head

Then I took off a running like a motorcycle
Heard the bullets whining and sirens wail
But it took half the cops in Dallas County
Just to put one boy in jail

So call up Trudy on the telephone
Send her a letter in the mail
Tell her I'm hung up in Dallas
And they won't let me outta this jail

And if she asks you how I'm fairing
Tell her I'm just about to lose my mind
Worried about old John Lee Walker
And the girl I left behind

Cumberland Mountain Number Nine (The CDB)

Baby don't ya cry 'cause momma's coming home
Poppa goin' bring you back some chitlins and some corn
Last frost done took its loss right down to the bone
We're lucky we still got room to roam

Goin' there to here is almost at a halt
Don't you go off blaming God, you know it ain't his fault
One time when life was fine someone found the wine
    Cumberland Mountain Number Nine

That still was the best damn still they ever did make
Wouldn't stand for nothing less, stand for no mistake
Last Fall we made a haul and filled the limestone mine
    Cumberland Mountain Number Nine

    [Chorus]
    Winter come a change
    Spring bring the rain
We weren't meant to stay the same
    One thing for sure
    We done found the cure,
    Cumberland Mountain Number Nine

Black coal from the strip mine way up north at Jellico
Kept the brew running smooth along the Thunder Road
Way back down in Bear Tree Gap the devil's juice flowed fine
    Cumberland Mountain Number Nine

The FB- and the TV- I had followed us for years
Eventually they got the scent and nabbed us by the hair
Man said son I'll blow up everything between your ears
You got to face bout 20 years.

    [Chorus]
    Winter come a change
    Spring bring the rain
We weren't meant to stay the same
    And now from this cell
    I've a story to tell....

The South's Gonna Do It Again (The CDB & Jimmy Hall)

Well, the train to Grinderswitch is runnin' right on time
And them Tucker Boys are cookin' down in Caroline
People down in Florida can't be still
When ol' Lynyrd Skynyrd's pickin' down in Jacksonville
People down in Georgia come from near and far
To hear Richard Betts pickin' on that red guitar

    [Chorus:]
So gather 'round, gather 'round chillun'
Get down, well just get down chillun'
Get loud, well you can be loud and be proud
Well you can be proud, hear now
    Be proud you're a rebel
'Cause the South's gonna do it again and again

Elvin Bishop sittin' on a bale of hay
He ain't good lookin', but he sure can play
And there's ZZ Top and you can't forget
That old brother Willie's gettin' soakin' Wet
And all the good people down in Tennessee
Are diggin' Barefoot Jerry and CDB

    [Chorus]
So gather 'round, gather 'round chillun'
Get down, well just get down chillun'
Get loud, well you can be loud and be proud
Well you can be proud, hear now
    Be proud you're a rebel
'Cause the South's gonna do it again and again

Statesboro Blues (Sea Level, Charlie Daniels & Jimmy Hall)

    Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low;
Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low.
You got no nerve baby, to turn Uncle John from your door.

I woke up this morning, I had them Statesboro Blues,
I woke up this morning, had them Statesboro Blues.
Well, I looked over in the corner, and your grandma shehad 'em too.

My momma died and left me,
My poppa died and left me,
    I ain't good looking baby,
    But I'msomeone sweet and kind.

I'm goin' to the country, baby do you want to go?
But if you can't make it baby, your sister Lucille said she might want to go.
    (sure will take her).

    Love that woman, better than any woman I've ever seen;
Well, I love that woman, better than any woman I've ever seen.
You know, she treat me like a king
I treat her like a doggone queen.

Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low.
Wake up momma, turn your lamp down low.
You got no nerve baby, turn Uncle John away from your door.

    Street Corner Serenade (Wet Willie)

Down on the corner in my home town
Me and the fellows used to gather round
The song we sang it sound so sweet
I can still hear that harmony
Singin de de de de deet
    Who, whoa oh ah ah

Guide he's the one that sang down low
    Crazy Larry sang the baritone
I'm the one that sang the lead
Little Jackie made our song complete
Singin de de de de deet
    Who, whoa oh ah ah

When a pretty girl would come passing by
We tried too hard to catch her eye
And when she stopped to check us out
That's when we really sang out loud
Singin de de de de deet
    Who, whoa oh ah ah

I still remember those happy days
We passed our time in carefree ways
Maybe someday we'll get together again
Down on the corner with my old friends
Singin de de de de deet
    Who, whoa oh ah ah

Good Hearted Woman (Willie Nelson & Band)

    She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves him in spite of his wicked ways
    She don't understand
    Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
    She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

    Well, a long time forgotten
Dreams have just fell by the way
And the good life he promised
    Ain't what she's living today
But she never complains of the bad times
    Or bad things he's done
She just talks about the good times they've had
And all the good times to come.

    She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves him in spite of his wicked ways
    She don't understand
    Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
    She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

He likes the bright light, the nite life
    And good-timin' friends
    When the party's all over
She'll welcome him back home again
    She don't understand him,
But she does the best that she can
    This good-hearted woman
    Lovin' a good-timin' man.

    She's a good-hearted woman in love with a good-timin' man
She loves me in spite of my wicked ways
    She don't understand
    Through teardrops and laughter,
They'll pass through this world hand in hand,
    She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.
    She's a good-hearted woman loving a good-timin' man.

Will the Circle Be Unbroken (Willie Nelson & 1977 Jam Band)

I was standing by the window
On one cold and cloudy day
When I saw the hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away

    Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

    I said to the undertaker
    Undertaker please drive slow
For this lady you are carrying
Lord I hate to see her go

    Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

Oh, I followed close behind her
Tried to hold up and be brave
But I could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in the grave

    Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

I went back home, the home was lonesome
Since my mother, she was gone
All my brothers and sisters crying
What a home so sad and alone

    Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

    We sang songs of childhood
Hymns of faith that made us strong
Ones that mother Maybelle taught us
    Hear the angels sing along

    Will the circle be unbroken
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

Can't You See (Jam All-Star Band)

    Gonna take a freight train
    Down at the station, Lord
I don't care where it goes
    Gonna climb a mountain
    The highest mountain
    Jump off, nobody gonna know

Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me

    I'm gonna find me
    A hole in the wall
I'm gonna crawl inside and die
    'Cause my lady, now
    A mean ol' woman, Lord
    Never told me goodbye

Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me

I'm gonna buy a ticket, now
    As far as I can
    Ain't a-never comin' back
    Ride me a southbound
All the way to Georgia, now
Till the train, it run out of track

Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me

Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me

Can't you see (oh, she's such a crazy lady), can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me
Can't you see (Lord, I can't stand), can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me

Can't you see (I'm gonna take a freight train), can't you see (down at the station, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me (ain't never comin' back)
Can't you see (gonna ride me a southbound, now), can't you see (all the way to Georgia, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me (till the train run out of track)

    Tennessee Waltz (Jam All-Star Band)

I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee Waltz
When an old friend I happened to see
I introduced her to my loved one
    And while they were dancing
My friend stole my sweetheart from me

I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
Now I know just how much I have lost
Yes, I lost my little darling the night they were playing
    The beautiful Tennessee Waltz

I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee Waltz
When an old friend I happened to see
I introduced her to my loved one
    And while they were dancing
My friend stole my sweetheart from me

I remember the night and the Tennessee Waltz
Now I know just how much I have lost
Yes, I lost my little darling the night they were playing
    The beautiful Tennessee Waltz
